Knowing which skills are critical to on field success, and what are potential fatal flaws, is the first step in preparing to evaluating an athlete or group of athletes. Being able to use past performance to accurately predict future performance is the lightning all hope to catch in a bottle.
At Titleist, Megan Morgan ran the point on a project that combined internal statistical analysis of the historical PGA TOUR performance data and external predictive modeling using the then emerging ShotLink data. As the economic landscape turned for the worse, it was imperative that the limited endorsement dollars were spent on the athletes most likely to deliver the best results over the course of the contract. Further, in order to maximize the return on these investments, Morgan worked one-on-one with the professional golfers to provide media training and product education ensuring each was prepared for any post-round interview.
